Since it’s Grammy week this week, Dua attended some events and also had her first concert for 2017. Her first appearance was at Clive David Pre-Grammy Gala and Salute to Industry Icons on January 27th. Dua was all white with white coat, dress and boots. Later this day she performed some of her hit songs at Billboard x MasterCard Pre-Grammy Show. Last but not least, yesterday she appeared at Universal Music Group’s Grammy After Party wearing all white again, following The White Roses Campaign, showing support for Time’s Up.
It’s still the beginning of 2018 and Dua already participated in a new campaign, called ‘Original is never finished‘! She is the new face of Adidas Originals. I uploaded 6 photos from the photoshoot and you can see a video also.

She’ll perform on the Feb. 3 episode alongside returning host Natalie Portman.
After landing her first Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit, Dua Lipa was just revealed to be the musical guest on the Feb. 3 episode of Saturday Night Live, with Natalie Portman returning as host. This will be Lipa’s first time appearing on the late-night sketch show, whereas Portman has hosted once before.
The last time she hosted, Portman of course performed in the iconic digital short “Natalie Raps.” You can relive Portman’s rap below, and check her and Dua Lipa out on SNL on Feb. 3.
The ‘New Rules’ singer caps her breakthrough year with the most nominations at British music’s biggest awards ceremony.
Dua Lipa, the breakthrough pop star who scored a huge summer hit with New Rules, has earned the most nominations at the 2018 Brit awards – even beating Ed Sheeran, despite his spectacular year-long assault on the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
She was nominated in the British female solo artist, breakthrough act, single and video categories, along with the night’s biggest award, British album of the year. Without being able to be nominated in the breakthrough category, Ed Sheeran is the runner-up with four nominations, for British male solo artist, video and single (each for Shape of You), and the album award for ÷, the biggest-selling album of 2017 in the UK. East London rapper J Hus and platinum-selling songwriter Rag’n’Bone Man each received three nominations.
Lipa’s competition for the female solo artist award comes from Jessie Ware, Kate Tempest, Laura Marling and Paloma Faith – all have been nominated before, with Marling and Faith winning in 2011 and 2015 respectively. Sheeran, meanwhile, is up against a strong field for male solo artist: Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, Loyle Carner and Rag’n’Bone Man, aka Rory Graham, who had the second-biggest selling album of last year, and is also nominated in the album category, alongside Sheeran, Lipa, J Hus and Stormzy.
Dua Lipa is a slow-burn success who upended music industry expectations to become the most-streamed female artist in the UK last year. Her upbeat yet melancholy debut single Be the One reached the Top 10 in 2015, but followup singles ‘Hotter Than Hell‘ and ‘Blow Your Mind‘ didn’t match its success. But after her song with Dutch EDM producer Martin Garrix, ‘Scared to Be Lonely’, spent 16 weeks in the Top 40, she released ‘New Rules‘, an irrepressible track on which she sassily dispenses relationship advice with the endlessly quotable chorus: “If you’re under him, you ain’t getting over him”. It quickly ascended to No 1 and spent 10 weeks in the Top 5; its video has been viewed 888m times on YouTube, and it became her first US hit, reaching 11 on the Billboard chart.

Dua Lipa doesn’t have a cold, exactly.
The gold standard of celebrity profiles is “Frank Sinatra Has a Cold” by Gay Talese, published in Esquire back in April 1966, when Sinatra was arguably the most powerful celebrity in America. Unlike other celebrities at the time, he didn’t need the publicity; he didn’t need to be in a magazine. Sinatra created and sold his own narrative, and so he refused to speak with Talese.
What made the profile so impressive is that, apparently, Talese didn’t need to talk to him, either. “Frank Sinatra Has a Cold” is an account of Talese trailing Ol’ Blue Eyes, studying him and the constellation of stars, strivers and crooks in his orbit. No matter how often young journalists without access try to cop the premise, or how often they reference and riff on the groundbreaking feature, it only really worked when Talese did it. It turns out you need a Frank Sinatra in 1966 to pull it off.
Dua Lipa is not Frank Sinatra in 1966. And, strictly speaking, she doesn’t have a cold, either. She has strep throat. And it’s ruining her day. Just like Sinatra’s cold ruined his.
Actually, it’s ruining a lot of people’s day, including all her fans in Montreal, who won’t be able to see her in concert tonight. She was supposed to fly there after this photo shoot in Toronto, but that isn’t happening anymore. Maybe more than the strep symptoms, having to cancel her show is what’s really bringing her down. When I arrive at the studio in the afternoon, it feels like I’m walking into a funeral. The air is charged with the silence that erupts after someone unintentionally says something too real. Lipa is leaning against a random automobile. The pose could almost be mistaken for sultry, but when you look closer, you realize she’s leaning against the car for support.
Lipa looks like she might cry. I’m not Talese, but I bet even he’d have trouble profiling a pop star who’s too sick to stay vertical. Sinatra only had a cold; Lipa is thousands of kilometres from her home, with an infection in her throat that’s preventing her from doing the thing that gives this whole ordeal meaning. Without a voice, she has no purpose here. Her identity is broken. That’s not a fun situation.
Lipa looked a lot better last night.
Finally, today the ‘IDGAF‘ music video was released. It represents “Your stronger and weaker side fighting with each other only to find that self love is what will help you overcome anything negative that comes your way,” as Dua herself said on Twitter a few days ago. The video is so powerful, watch it below and see the screencaptures in our gallery.

A new video with Dua’s best 2017 moments was uploaded to her YouTube channel yesterday. It includes backstage moments, concert clips, meet and greets and many more. From now on, you can find us on twitter – @iheartdualipa for more updates around Dua Lipa.
“Everyone is allowed to wear whatever the fuck they want, and it’s so important that they do,” Lipa tells me over the phone. She’s currently writing material for her next album. “This is the way we move forward in the world. We have to break the norms. If women wearing womenswear is deemed normal, women wearing menswear should be normal, too. But normality is a tricky one. It’s putting things in a box, and it shouldn’t be like that. Because what is normal, anyway?”
